Annual Fund

2021 ANNUAL FUND

  • HELP US BE HEARD!

(pp), (p), (mf), (f), (ff), (sfz), (cresc), (dim)

This collection of letters means nothing when merely read, but when heard it can move us to dance or to cry, it can make our hearts race or it can comfort our souls. These letters are the abbreviated markings for the intended dynamics in a piece of music: (pp) very quiet, (p) quiet, (mf) moderately loud, (f) loud, (ff) very loud (sfz) a sudden- forced loud, (cresc) gradually getting louder, (dim) gradually getting softer. NCT's musical score is the dynamic collection of young actors who bravely shed their fears to perform in our shows, and we want them to be heard! As we embark on a new season of singing in our spring musical and musical theatre summer camp, of performing outdoors - whether it's Romeo and Juliet or Alice in Wonderland -and of  entertaining families at Casino Theatre with our winter production, we want all the intended dynamics of our talented casts to be heard!

That is why we ask you to support our 2021 Annual fund which will help us buy a new keyboard and small sound system.  After all, we cannot create an Into the Woods or Annie without having means to teach our actors the music! We cannot fully understand a quiet moment on stage if we cannot hear it. And an actor's job is hard enough when taking on Shakespeare, but this difficulty is compounded when performed outdoors and the actor must project over cars, wind, and planes flying overhead. This keyboard and sound system can help ensure every word, both spoken and sung, is heard. Being heard opens conversations, listening to the intended dynamics impacts understanding, and understanding invokes empathy.
